Fall semester exams are upon us.

“There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” – Anais Nin

For our students it is important that you have the confidence and support to blossom throughout the exam process, rather than being so afraid of failure that finals become your undoing. We send a reminder that life is so much better when you feel that you have accomplished something, when you put in those extra study hours and maybe a few extra cups of coffee in order to attain the grade you really want in the course. This is not to say that everything always works out just the way we want, but sometimes if you just believe in yourself you can accomplish more than you ever expected. Your disability is not an obstacle; it is a piece of who you are, the you who can accomplish great things.

To our faculty we say thank you for providing the support and encouragement our students need to find their success. For knowing how to challenge and support in ways that encourage students to find themselves, to grow as individuals, and to incorporate new knowledge into their sense of self and the world. Each course builds a foundation of knowledge which will allow our Texas Tech students to develop into amazing professionals. When students look back at their experiences at Texas Tech we hope those memories are full of ways in which Texas Tech faculty and staff enabled them to become their best selves.  Challenge and support, the cornerstones of creating future leaders.

For students and faculty please remember that Student Disability Services (SDS) is here to help and support you. We will continue to have our free, drop in tutoring available to all SDS students throughout final exams.  In addition, the University Writing Center and Learning Center will be open and available for those in need of additional support. As always, feel free to contact us if you are in need of more information about support services available on campus.
